The study, conducted by the Shalem Foundation’s Michlol unit, evaluated the "Keshet" grant program—an initiative supporting families of people with intellectual, physical, sensory, and cognitive disabilities. The grant enabled local authorities to establish training and treatment groups designed to strengthen family coping skills, provide emotional and social support, and improve connections with social services.
The evaluation included 13 project coordinators in 16 municipalities and 102 group participants. Findings showed overwhelmingly positive outcomes:
98% reported high satisfaction,
90% said the groups enriched their knowledge, and
92% gained new tools for coping.
Participants highlighted benefits such as empowerment, networking, emotional resilience, and quality personal time. Nearly all (99%) wanted to continue in future groups, and all recommended participation to other family members.
Authorities also recognized the grant’s unique contribution, enabling them to expand services (e.g., for fathers and Russian speakers) and reach new families. About 77% reported growth in participation. The program removed barriers, broadened services, and provided practical tools that improved family quality of life.
Despite being launched during a year of war, the grant facilitated the opening of 111 groups in its first year, underscoring its importance. The evaluation positions Keshet as a successful model for future family-support initiatives

תופעת השחיקה ההורית מתפתחת בעיקר עקב חוסר איזון בין גורמי סיכון לשחיקה (חשיפה מתמשכת לדרישות בתחום ההורות), לבין גורמי הגנה מפניה (משאבי ההתמודדות העומדים לרשות ההורה). אימהות לילדים עם צרכים מיוחדים נמצאות בסיכון גבוה לשחיקה הורית עקב תפקוד הילד בהשוואה לבני גילו, תלות הילד בהן ונטל הטיפול הממושך. מחקר משולב (Mixed methods) זה בחן מודל לתיאור תרומת מערך הקשרים בין גורמי סיכון ומשאבי הגנה לבין תופעת השחיקה ההורית של אימהות לילדים עם וללא צרכים מיוחדים (צ"מ) מהמגזר החרדי ושאינו חרדי. בחלק הכמותי נמצא, כי קשרים אלו תורמים להסבר מחצית מהשונות של השחיקה ההורית של כלל האימהות וכי מערך קשרים זה חזק יותר באופן מובהק בקרב אימהות לילדים עם צ"מ בהשוואה לאימהות לילדים ללא צ"מ. בחלק האיכותני נמצא, כי אמנם השחיקה ההורית אימהות לילדים עם צ"מ קשורה לרמת תפקוד הילד, חומרת לקותו והתלות שלו בהן, אך גם משולבת באופן שבו הן חוות את האימהוּת ובתפיסת החברה, הקהילה והאם עצמה את תפקידה כמטפלת העיקרית בילד, נטל הטיפול וכובד האחריות הנלווים לכך.

The phenomenon of parental burnout develops mainly due to an imbalance between risk factors for burnout (ongoing exposure to parenting demands) and protective factors (available coping resources). Mothers of children with special needs are at high risk for parental burnout due to the child's functioning as compared to his peers, the child's dependence on them and the burden of prolonged treatment. This mixed-methods study examined a model for describing the contribution of the nexus of correlations between risk factors and protective resources and parental burnout among mothers of children with and without special needs from the ultra-Orthodox and non-Orthodox sectors .In the quantitative part, it was found that these correlations explain about half of the variance in parental burnout among all mothers, and significantly stronger among mothers of children with special needs compared to mothers of children without special needs. In the qualitative part, it was found that while parental burnout of mothers of children with special needs is related to the child's functioning level, the severity of his disability and his dependence on them, it is also combined with the way the mothers experience motherhood and the perceptions of the society and the mothers themselves of their role as their child' primary caregiver.

The present study examines how Haredi (ultra-Orthodox Jewish) mothers of children with disabilities describe their motherhood experience and how it is affected by perceptions of disability in their society. These issues were examined within the framework of a critical disability studies approach, which draws on social and medical models of disability.
The study was carried out using a qualitative method. 30 Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) mothers of a child with a disability participated in the study.
The central findings were grouped into three main themes. The first concerns the meaning of disability for these mothers, in the context of the values of Haredi society.The second theme deals with the motherhood experience of ultra-Orthodox mothers to a child with a disability. The third theme deals with the implications of the environment’s reactions to the child with disability.
This research consequently contributes to the enrichment of knowledge about disability in the cultural context and with an emphasis on mothers who belong to the ultra-Orthodox community. It is possible to promote public and political changes concerning the perception of disability in ultra-Orthodox society. These changes include the promotion of Intra-community discourse.

המחקר הנוכחי בחן את תפיסותיהן של אימהות חרדיות לילד עם מוגבלות אודות המוגבלות, כמו גם את חוויית האימהות שלהן. המחקר נערך במתודולוגיה איכותנית קונסטרוקטיביסטית בסוגת מחקר פנומנולוגית הבנייתית פרשנית. במחקר השתתפו 30 אימהות חרדיות בראיונות עומק חצי מובנים, והנתונים מראיונות אלו נותחו בשיטה הקטגוריאלית תמתית. ניתן להבחין בשלוש תמות עיקריות: 1.משמעות המוגבלות בעיני האמהות לאור ערכי החברה החרדית 2. חוויית האמהות של אמהות חרדיות לילד עם מוגבלות 3. השלכות של תגובות הסביבה לילד עם מוגבלות. תמות אלו ותתי התמות המסתעפות מהן מצביעות על מקומו המשמעותי של הממסד הרבני כמו גם של ה"רחוב החרדי" בעיצוב תפיסות מוגבלות בעיני האמהות. היות החברה החרדית מתבדלת, מעצימה את השלכות תגובות הסביבה והמשפחה אודות ילד עם מוגבלות. אלו גם אלו מייצרים זירה בה האם לילד עם המוגבלות מתמודדת עם הדרה או לחילופין חסד מפלה, ונושאת משאלה אקטיביסטית לפרקטיקת הכלה בקהילתה.
